Abstrak

Writing ability is important for the students at SMA / MA. Based on Curriculum 2007 or called School – Based Curriculum (KTSP). Writing is the ability to write something that develops the idea to be a good paragraph. They have to express their idea in written language. Most of them are still difficult to understand it. The teacher must use suitable technique. Scaffolding technique is the suitable technique to help the students have the ability of writing. The objective of the research are (i) To know the ability of writing descriptive teks of the tenth grade students of MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/2012 before being taught by using scaffolding.(ii) To know the ability of writing descriptive teks of the tenth grade students of MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/2012 after being taught by using scaffolding.(iii)To find out the significant difference the ability of writingdescriptive teks of the tenth grade students of MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/ 2012 before and after being taught by using scaffolding. The subject of the research was the tenth grade students in MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/ 2012, which consist 36 students. The research design used is qualitative experiment by using one group of pre test and post test design as instrument. The result of the research shows that: a) the students ability of writing of the tenth grade students of MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/2012 before being taught by using scaffolding technique. With the average score (mean) is 57.88. b) The student’s ability of writing of the tenth grade students of MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/2012 before being taught by using scaffolding technique. With the average score (mean) are 80.02. c) there is a significant differences between students ability of writing of the tenth grade students of MA MA’AHID Kudus in academic year 2011/2012 before and after being taught by using scaffolding technique. Based on the calculation the level of significant 5% and degree of freedom N-1 = 36-1 = 35, t-test 2.07 is higher than t-table 2.04. It shows that the alternative hypothesis of this research is confirmed. Based on the result of the research above, teachers are suggested to use scaffolding technique as one of the alternative technique to teach the ability writing text. By using scaffolding technique, the students should be more motivated to learn English especially writing because it can improve teaching learning process and it can be more interesting.
