                      Abstrak

The use of language in form of text is an interesting to study. This is mainly caused by the fact that to study this, we need to go beyond the text itself. In exploring the meaning, Interpersonal meaning (Mood) is key of it. By exploring the interpersonal meaning we can find out the speakers purpose and usually it called speech function. By knowing the speech function we will find the real purpose of the speaker. It also can avoid misunderstanding among the speakers so that the communication can run well. The objectives of this research are to find out the mood types and speech functions realized by clause moods in the dialog by the main character “Nina” in Black Swan movie script byMark Heyman, John McLaughlin, and Andres Heinz. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative. The data of this research is the mood types and speech functions realized by clause moods that are taken from the script of Black Swanmovie script written byMark Heyman, John McLaughlin, and Andres Heinz as the data source. The results of this research are; firstly, there are 185 clause moods found in the Nina’s dialog, and they are in different form. They are mentioned from the highest one to the lowest as follow: 117 (63,2%) Declarative mood, 15 (8,1%) WH-Interrogative mood, 30 (16,2%) Elliptical clause mood, 7 (3,8%), Polar interrogative mood, and 16 (8,6 %) Imperative mood.Secondly, I found 11 kinds of speech function realized by clause mood, they are: 49 Statements, 31 Questions, 18 Commands, 38 Answers, 13 Acknowledgments, 5 Refusal, 22 Contradiction, 2 Disclaimer, 1 Acceptance, 2 Compliance, and 4 Rejection. Based on the result of the research, I suggest the teacherscan use this research as an example when they teach about Grammar and Functional Grammar, especially in teaching about mood type and speech function realized by mood. The students can learn more about the mood type and speech Function through my research. It is also suggested that the further researcher should continue and develop this research with the analysis of the speech function bythe other character in this movie script, because this research only talks about mood and speech function realized by clause mood in the dialog used by the main character.
