Abstrak
Learning style is the behavior that usually used by the students to get information or knowledge. Learning have many styles that different for another people. Learning styles can be classified into: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In learning English, learning style is very needed to support the students in learning to be more effective. The aim of the research are: (1) To know the learning style of male students of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in learning English. (2) To know the learning style of female students of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in learning English. (3) To know the differences and similarities of English learning style of male and female students of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University. Method of the research is descriptive qualitative and the data source arethe male and female students of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muria Kudus University in 1, 3 and 5 semester (10 students every semester) in academic year 2018/2019. To collect the data the writer used questionnaire adapted from Joy. M. Reid. The result of this research shows that there are: (1)The English learning style of male students are kinesthetic (38.27) as major, while auditory (37.2) and visual style (35.73) as a minor. (2) The English learning style of female students also kinesthetic (40.8) as major, auditory (36.4) and visual (34.8) as minor. (3) The difference of male and female students are they get different average from each learning style. While the similarity of male and female students are both of them get the highest major learning style in kinesthetic learning and same percentage major and minor in auditory learning style. Based on the result, the writer concludes that every student have different learning styles and they learns based on their own learning styles. The writer also gives suggestion for: (1) Teacher not only teach their students but also makes them enjoy and feel comfort to the teaching and learning process in the class, (2) For the students, both male and female students should be focus on their own learning style and be able to maximize it, (3) For the next research, they can use this research as one of the reference who want conduct a research in the same field.
