Abstrak

The main goal of English learning is to develop four skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) of the learners. Unfortunately, the students got difficulties in writing. The writing ability of Descriptive text of the eighth grade students of MTs. NU Miftahul Falah Cendono Kudus still needs attention. The objective of the research is to know whether there is a significant difference between the writing ability of Descriptive text of the eighth grade students of MTs. NU Miftahul Falah Cendono Kudus taught by using Cue Card and Blackboard and Chalk in academic year 2011/2012. This research is an experimental research. The population of the research is the eighth grade students of MTs. NU Miftahul Falah Cendono Kudus in academic year 2011/2012. The writer takes VIIID and VIIIE as the sample of the research by using cluster random sampling. The instrument of the research is test. The result of the research shows the writing ability of Descriptive text of the eighth grade students of MTs. NU Miftahul Falah Cendono Kudus taught by using Cue Card in academic year 2011/2012 is categorized to be good. It is presented with the highest score is 88, the lowest score is 61, mean is 74.08, and standard deviation is 9.80. On the other hand, the writing ability of Descriptive text of the eighth grade students of MTs. NU Miftahul Falah Cendono Kudus taught by using Blackboard and Chalk in academic year 2011/2012 is categorized to be sufficient. It is presented with the highest score is 81, the lowest score is 54, mean is 65, and standard deviation is 12.01. The t-observation is 4.05. In the level of significance 5% and degree of freedom 94, it is found t-table 1.99. Therefore, the writer suggests for the teacher and the further researchers. The suggestion for the teacher: The teacher is suggested to use Cue Card in teaching writing descriptive text: for the further researcher: The further researcher should choose the media that suitable with the material which will be researched. So the research can be effective.
