Abstrak

When people use two language or more by inserting the element of one language to the other it is called code mixing. WE usually found code mixing in many media like television, news paper, magazine and any more but the people do not relize that they use and mixing word in they daily activity. The objectives in this research are (1) to find out the formsof code mixing used by Farah Quinn on “Ala Chef” Program on Trans TV Station (2)to find out the contextual meaning of code mixing used by Farah Quinn on “Ala Chef” Program on Trans TV Station This design of the research is descriptive qualitative research. The writer uses descriptive qualitative research because it describes the forms and the contextual meaning of code mixing used by Farah Quinn on “Ala Chef” Program on Trans TV Station. The data in this research is utterances of Farah Quinn and the data source is Ala Chef Program on Trans TV Station From the result of this research shows that (i) The writer found there are 293 code mixing consist of 102(34.8%) types of words, 80(27.3) types of phrase, and 45(15.4%) types of hybrid, 58(19.7%) types of clauses, 6(2.1%) types of word repetition, 2(0.2%) types of idioms (ii)The meaning of code mixing found that used by Farah Quinn on “Ala Chef” Program on Trans TV station are based on the contextual meaning Based on the result of the research, I suggest the students of English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty to be able to recognize and understand the using of code mixing based on the context. For the students of Muria Kudus University especially the students of English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty, and by reading this research, students will understand about the forms of code mixing easily.
