Abstrak

The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the influence of the principal's democratic leadership towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency; (2) analyzing the influence of work motivation towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency; (3) to analyze the influence of work discipline towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency; and (4) to analyze the influence of the principal's democratic leadership, work motivation, and work discipline towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency. This study used a collaborative research design to determine the relationship between variables. The independent variables determined were the principal's democratic leadership, work motivation, and work discipline, while the dependent variable studied was teacher performance. The study was conducted in 4 junior high schools in Pati Regency. Data were collected by a questionnaire with 56 respondents. Analysis of the data used is a simple and multiple regression. The results found that (1) the principal's democratic leadership has a positively strong influence (r1 = 0.538) towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency with an influence contribution of 28.9%; (2) work motivation has a positively very strong influence (r2 = 0.756) towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency with an influence contribution of 57.2%; (3) work discipline has a positively strong influence (r3 = 0.751) towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency with an influence contribution of 56.4%; and (4) the democratic leadership of the school principal, work motivation, and work discipline have a positively very strong influence (R = 0.842) positively towards Junior High Schools’ teacher performance in Pati Regency with an influence contribution of 70.9%. The suggestions are (1) this research provides scientific information about the principal's democratic leadership, work motivation, and work discipline for further research in other factors that are thought to effect teacher performance; (2) for Junior High School principals, to apply democratic leadership to encourage teacher performance for achieving school and national education goals; (3) for Junior High School teachers, to increase motivation and discipline to improve their performance in learning activity and be an example for students as a motivated and disciplined individual; and (4) for researcher, obtain a reference as a consideration for applying the results in the institution and continue the research on other factors that have the potential to influence teacher performance.
