Abstrak
Students’ perceptions are needed by the teacher. The importance of these perceptions allows teachers know what the best is for students when delivering material in class, especially in writing narrative text material. Students’ perceptions are very influential for teachers teaching ways in class. Several aspects supporting those are such as Materials, Media, Methods and Teacher Attitude. Based on the statement of the problem, the purpose of this study was to determine students’ perceptions of teaching writing narrative text in English classes, and so that the teacher could find out more or less the teaching system in which the teacher conveyed the students in the class. It has functions as input for the English teacher at school. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research. The research used questionnaires to collect data. The respondents who also answered consisted of 35 students from SMANegeri 3 Pati, gave positive responses. The teacher could direct the teaching that was less effective to be very effective. It could be seen from the examples of the questionnaire that supported the four aspects above. This research recommends the teachers to teach the aspects of writing narrative text. It also recommended to facilitate learners to easily understand the material. Thus, it could be delivered by having interesting media, joyful methods, and proper behavior models given by the teachers.
