Abstrak

Mobile-assisted language learning is a learning approach that deals with the use of mobile technology in language learning. In contrast to classroom learning, students do not need to sit in class or in front of a computer to get learning materials. Therefore, students who are already familiar with their devices will easily access the required materials, choose when they will study and teachers can access and evaluate students' academic progress easily. Based on the explanation above, the purpose of this study is to find out the perception of the picture of the application of mobile learning learning for students using the Er-central website to improve their English language skills and also to find out to what extent mobile assisted extensive reading can be used as a learning medium to carry out independent learning for students at Muria Kudus University. Researcher use qualitative research. The participants are 40 students from the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. This study aims to describe students' perceptions of mobile assisted extensive reading to improve their reading skills and also to determine the role of mobile-based learning in replacing conventional learning. The results of this study indicate that students show a positive response and also have a positive attitude about mobile assisted reading. Mobile assisted extensive reading has a very good reputation among teachers and students in the learning process. According to the results of the study, 77% of students chose a positive response in the attitude aspect, then 78% chose a positive response in the interest aspect. and the last in the practical aspect 79% of students chose a positive response. With the results of this study students feel comfortable and consciously want to learn actively to improve their reading skills. Researcher suggest that teachers are willing to adapt and be active in the online learning process so that students feel comfortable with online learning. And also so that students are more independent with their awareness in the online learning process to improve their reading skills.
