Abstrak
Some teachers still use bahasa indonesia in their English teaching and learning process in some context. Teachers assume that the use of Bahasa Indonesia inspite of English in English classroom is quite helpful. The use of bahasa Indonesia in teaching English can also facilitates communication among students and teacher efficiently and resourcefully. In this research, I only focus to analyze the duration and the context of bahasa Indonesia such as explaining difficult words, explaining grammar points, making jokes, giving suggestions, giving classroom instruction and giving request by the lecturer and students in Genre Writing Class of third semester students of English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in 2012. The objectives of this research are to find out the duration and the contexts of Bahasa Indonesia in Genre writing Class of the third semester students of Muria Kudus University in academic Year 2012/2013 used by the lecturer and the students To obtain the objectives of the research, the descriptive qualitative s is used to design this research. Whereas, the data of this research are Bahasa Indonesia in transcript teaching and learning process of the third semester students of English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muria Kudus University in 2013 and the data source are the lecturer and students in Genre Writing Class of third semester students of English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education faculty of Muria Kudus University in 2012. Based on the analysing of the data, The duration of Bahasa Indonesia in Genre Writing Class of the third semester students of Muria Kudus University in academic year 2012/2013 used by the lecturer in two meetings are ± 17.64% and used by the students are ± 1.37%. while The contexts on the use of Bahasa Indonesia in Genre Writing Class of the third semester students of Muria Kudus University in academic year 2012/2013 by the lecturer are ± 9.2% explaining difficult words, ± 30.9% explaining grammar points, ± 10.4% making jokes, ± 23.9% giving suggestions and ± 25.6%giving classroom instructions and by the students are ± 45.8% explaining difficult words, ± 8.8% explaining grammar points, ±7.2% making jokes, ± 11.7% giving suggestions and ± 26.5% giving requests.
