Key Words: Irregular Verb andMake a Match Technique Language is very important for people all over the world, because the language used to communicate with other people. Language also used to convey the messages, to express and interprets anything. The language which is produced may become more accurate and meaningful when we communicate in grammatical sentences. Correct verb’ choosing is necessity to make the communication run well and understandable. Understanding irregular verb of simple past tense is important for the learners. The learners will comprehend the various changing of the verb. The researcher uses Make a Match Technique. It is a new method in teaching English to the MTs N Bawu especially for the eight grade students. This techniqueusesflash card that consists of two kinds of cardsas media. Each card contains of sentences that has regular verb or irregular verb. And the students are required to match the cardbetween regular verb (V1) into irregular verb (V2) in correct form. The students have to know which one the verbs are suitable. Hopefully by using this technique of teaching, the students can comprehend irregular verb of simple past tense easily. The purpose of this research is to find out the significant difference between the ability of identifying the forms of irregular verb of simple past tense of the eight grade student of MTs N Bawu in the academic year 2013/2014 before and after being taught by using Make a Match Technique. In this research, the researcher uses quasi experimental research. The population is the eight students of MTs N Bawu in academic year 2013/2014. The sample is H Class that amount of 40 students. There are six meetings during the research. Before the students have treatments, they have pre test first that has been tried out to find out the validity and reliability. In the end of the treatment, the researcher gives post test to the student and compares the result with pre test result. The result of the research shows that using Make a Match Technique in teaching irregular verb of simple past tense of the eight grade student of MTs N Bawu can motivated student in learning irregular verb of simple past tense and develop their ability in irregular verb of simple past tense. It can be seen from the pre test and post test result. The result of The ability of identifying the forms of irregular verb of simple past tense of the eight grade student of MTs N Bawuin the academic year 2013/2014 before being taught by using Make a Match Technique (pre test) has mean 56 and the standard deviation is 9,36. While the result of The ability of identifying the forms of irregular verb of simple past tense of the eight grade student of MTs N Bawuin the academic year 2013/2014 after being taught by using Make a Match Technique(post test) has mean 67,05and the standard deviation is 12,45. It shows that there is a significant difference of The ability of identifying the forms of irregular verb of simple past tense of the eight grade student of MTs N Bawuin the academic year 2013/2014 before and after being taught by using Make a Match Technique. The result of to (7,4 is higher than t-table (2,04). Therefore, it can be said that the null hypothesis is rejected, while the hypothesis of the research is confirmed. Based on the result of the research above, it is expected that English teachers should mind about a good method/media/technique to interest the students.
