Suprihadi, M.Pd Key words: Writing, WebQuest, Report text, action research English is an international language that has a function as second language in Indonesia. Because of that, everyone have to learn English especially for students. Students’ of kinder garden up to university studies English too. There are four skills in English such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. Writing is one of the skills which must be taught to Senior High School students as one of the teaching and learning activities in class. It is clearly noted in KTSP curriculum that objective of teaching English in Senior High School does not only teach vocabulary and grammar or introduces a new dialog with a certain topic, but also impresses on discourse level. Most of the students felt that writing is boring and difficult because process of writing consuming time. As a teacher must apply some media to develop the material and make them more active and interest in class. WebQuest is one of the alternative media that can be used in teaching English. WebQuest gives more opportunities to students to express everything in their mind by written. In this research, the writer uses WebQuest as a teaching media in teaching writing English. The purpose of this research is to improve students’ skill in writing report text for the eleventh grade students of science 1 of SMA Negeri 1 MayongJepara in academic the Year 2013/2014. The writer conducted a classroom action research to solve the research problem. The research was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 MayongJepara in the academic year 2013/2014, especially in eleventh grade students of science 1. The number of students in this research was 32 students. The writer used report text as object the research. The average score percentage of the students’ writing skill in report text in cycle 1 is 78, 81%. In cycle II, the average score percentage of the student’s writing skill in report text is 81, 65%. So, there is an increasing of the average score percentage of the students’ writing skill in every cycle. In addition, the students and teacher’s more active in teaching learning process and the students’ achievement in writing report text is improved. WebQuest makes easier for them to produce ideas in their mind. They become more enthusiastic in the class. They could explore their idea freely when they develop the topic and clue that teacher given. The writer can conclude that the use WebQuest can improve students’ skill in writing report text in the eleventh grade students of science 1 of SMA Negeri 1 MayongJepara in academic year 2013/2014. Because the use of WebQuest in teaching writing report text shows good result, so the writer suggests to the English teacher of senior high school to use WebQuest as one of media to teach writing skill.
