Abstrak

According to the observation that has been conducted in teaching Indonesian in fourth grade students of SD2 Ploso, the writer found that the teacher is as the central in process of teaching and less in using media of teaching when teach descriptive text. As the result, the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text is still low. The teacher should use the best way to improve the students’ achievement in writing descriptive. Using picture sequences as the media of teaching is the best way to improve it. The research statement is can picture sequences improve the writing ability of fourth grade students of SD2 Ploso KecamatanJatii KabupatenKudus in writing Narrative Paragraph in Indonesian subject? The objectives of the research here are to know whether picture sequences can improve the writing ability of fourth grade students of SD 2 PlosoKecamatanJatiKabupatenKudus in writing Narrative Paragraph in Indonesian subject. Method of the research are used is Classroom Action research that consist of two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and also reflecting. The techniques of collecting data are using test, observation, and documentary. The data are taken from the students’ task in writing descriptive, teacher’s performer, and students’ activeness. In analyzing the data, the writer uses quantitative and qualitative ways. The quantitative way is used to measure the students’ task in writing descriptive text using picture sequences. The qualitative way is used to analyze data as students’ activeness and management of class by the teacher. Based on the observation, picture sequences can improve the writing ability of fourth grade students of SD2 PlosoKecamatanJatiKabupatenKudus in writing Narrative Paragraph in Indonesian subject. The result of pretest shows that the students’ average score is about 67,3and the classical study is about 28,5%. In the cycle I, the average score of students is 69,3, the classical study is 57,1%, students’ activeness is 65,3%, and teacher performer is 67,5%. In the cycle II, the students’ average score is about 75.2, the classical study is 85,7%, students’ activeness is 77,8%, and teacher performer is 77.5%. This research was classroom action research (CAR) model Hopkins. Data collecting was done by written test, observation, interviews, and photo documentation. The instrument of this research was written test, observation, interview, and documentation. While to analyze the data, the researcher used technique of quantitative and qualitative data. Based on the result of the research, the writer concluded that picture sequences can improve the writing ability of fifth grade students of SD2 PlosoKecamatanJatiKabupatenKudus in writing Narrative Paragraph in Indonesian subject. The writer suggested that to use attractive and appropiate media in process of teaching especiallyIn writing.This research is supposed to be used as reverence to developing other research that more creative and innovative especially teaching Indonesian
