Abstrak
The research based on the student’s achievement which is low in SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati. The low of the student’s achievement is caused bylearning which is use speech method so that provider less opprtunity to the students in problem solving process. The problems of this study are as follows (1) How do teacher skill in applying of Problem Based Learning model in Civics Education subject of 4th grade students of SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati? (2) Does the application of Problem Based Learning model on the subjects of Civics Education can improve the students learning activities of 4th grade students of SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati? (3) Is the application of Problem Based Learning model can improve the student achievement of Civics Education subjects of 4th grade students of SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati? The purpose of the study is to improve the skills of the teachers to manage classes, student learning activities, and student’s achievement of Problem Based Learning model in Civics Education subject. Problem Based Learning model or Learning Based Problem is a learning model that directs the students to think widely in problem solving by group activities so that the students could decieving, percuading, and improving their skills continously. Student’s achievement is the result of learning process in the form of the knowledge, attitudes and skills (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor). Hypothesis action is through the application of Problem Based Learning model can improve teacher skill, student learning activities, and the student’s achievement in Civics Education subject of 4th grade students of SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati. This study is an action research that is conducted in the 4th grade students of SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati. The subjects research consist of a teacher and 25 students. The research will be held for 2 cycles each cycle consist of twice teaching and learning process. The independent variable of this research is Problem Based Learning model, while the dependent variable is the result of learning Civics Education. Data collection methods are such as interviews, observations, tests and documentations. The data obtained were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Research declared successful if the skills of teacher, student activities and student’s achievement appropiated by indicator succes if teacher activity got 75 point or more with good qualification, student activities got on average 75 with good qualification, the minimum result of cognitif learning is 75%, result of affective and psychomotor got an average 75 point or more with good qualification. The results research that the application of Problem Based Learning model in Civics Education learning can improve the skills of teacher, student activities and student’s achievement. This is evidenced by achievement of indicators success (1) teacher skills to manage learning in 1st cycle got 83 point with good qualification and the 2nd cycle got 90 point with excellent qualification, (2) the activity of the affective domain assessment of students in the 1st cycle got 71,64 point with good qualification and the 2nd cycle got 83,8 point with excellent qualification, while the realm of assessment of students psychomotor activity 1st cycle got 69,48 point with good qualification and the 2nd cycle got 84,88 point with excellent qualifications, (3) student’s achievement cognitive sphere 1st cycle got classical completeness 68% and the 2nd cycle by 88%, the average value of the affective domain of student’s achievement 1st cycle of 71,64 and the 2nd cycle of 83,8 point, the average value of the psychomotor domain of student’s achievement 1st cycle of 69,46 point and the 2nd cycle of 84,88 point. The conclusion of this research that the implementation of Problem Based Learning model can improve student’s achievement in Civics Education subject of 4th grade students of SDN Kedungmulyo Jakenan Pati. Suggestions for research are the students should be able to practice dare to give comments related to the material which be delivered although asking about the material that is not understood yet, the teacher should apply an innovative learning model to improve the activity and student’s achievement and improve student’s creativity in problems solving, the Headmaster should be able to encourage the teacher’s classroom to implement problem-solving oriented learning and suport the teaching and learning activity in civics education inovately.
