                    Abstrak

                    This research was conducted because of Social studies achievement of the fifth grade students of SDN 4 Piji Kudus is still low. These research problems were students’ activity, the teacher instructional skill, and Social studies achievement by using Group investigation learning model for the fifth grade students of SDN 4 Piji Kudus. The objectives of this classroom action research were students’ activity, the teacher instructional skill, and the improvement of Social studies achievement by using Group investigation learning model for social subject of the fifth grade students of SDN 4 Piji Kudus. Group investigation is cooperative learning model that made the students participate in determining the topic, giving opinion, and demand the students cooperate with their group. This learning model could train the students thinking grow to be independent. Independence proclamation of Indonesia was the struggle result of Indonesian independent heroes to be independent from foreign colonizer. This research hypothesis was the implementation of group investigation learning model can improve students’ learning activity, the teacher instructional skill and social studies achievement for independence proclamation of Indonesia material of the fifth grade students of SDN 4 Piji Kudus. This classroom action research was conducted for the fifth grade students of SDN 4 Piji Kudus in academic year 2013/2014. Research procedure consist of (1) Planning; (2) acting; (3) observation; (4) Reflection. Method of data collection used by the writer was observation, interview, test, documentation and field study. Data were analyzed descriptive quantitatively and descriptive qualitatively. The result of this research was the significant improvement of the students’ learning activity with average percentage in cycle I 67.70% (high) and it improved in cycle II become 85.34% (very high). The activity of learning management by using group investigation learning model also improved from 78.56% (high) in cycle I become 90.62% in cycle II. Students’ achievement for independence proclamation of Indonesia material with completeness percentage 45.83% (low) in pre-cycle, and 66.67% (high) in cycle I become 87.5% (very high) in cycle II. The conclusion of this research can be stated that implementation of group investigation learning model can improve students activity, teacher instructional skill and social studies achievement for independence proclamation of Indonesia material of the second semester of the fifth grade students of SDN 4 Piji Kudus. The writer suggests that the students should be more active in learning process, the teacher ought to use group investigation learning model in teaching social studies and other learning model that is more creative; then the pedagogical institution like this school can increase their quality through good learning, and other researcher can improve learning realization optimally.
