                    Abstrak

                    The use of language in communication can be done orally and written. Writing is the most complex language skill and must be controlled by the student. The pretest value of narrative writing showed that students who do not reached the KKM was 17 of 26 students in fourth grade student of SDN 2 Kendengsidialit. The problem of this research is How are the improvement of, (1) student’s activity, (2) the teacher's skill in teaching, and (3) narrative writing skill by applying mind mapping learning model in 4th grade students of SDN 2 Kendengsidialit Welahan Jepara? The aim of this research are to determine the improvement of, (1) student’s activity, (2) the teacher's skill in teaching, and (3) narrative writing skills by applying mind mapping learning model in 4th grade students of SDN 2 Kendengsidialit Welahan Jepara. The mind mapping learning model used to develop the way of thinking by using both of the brain though mind mapping. Mind mapping used to made outline in writing narrative. Narrative is type of discourse that tells about series of events in over time. The hypothesis of this research is that there are an improvement of, (1) student’s activity, (2) the teacher's skill in teaching, and (3) narrative writing skills by applying mind mapping learning model in the fourth grade student of SDN 2 Kendengsidialit Welahan Jepara. The form of this research is classroom action research with 26 students of 4th grade students of SDN 2 Kendengsidialit which conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisst of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The independent variable is the mind mapping learning model application. The dependent variable is the narrative writing skills. The technique of data collection were interview, observation, documentation, and test. The form of narrative test is writing test. The result of this research showed the narrative writing skill in pre-cycle (34.61%), cycle I (58.85%), cycle II (76.92%) with an average value from 59.58 (pre-cycle) to 65.81 (first cycle), and 73.77 (second cycle), supported by average score of student’s activity in first cycle 31.67 (good) to 37.37 (very good) on the second cycle. Average score of the teacher’s skill in teaching in first cycle 37.5 (good) to 43.5 (very good) on the second cycle. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there is an improvement of writing skills by using mind mapping learning model in 4th grade student of SDN 2 Kendengsidialit Welahan Jepara in academic year 2013/2014. Furthermore, the researcher gave an advice to the student to be serious in learning activities and practice writing consistently to get good result in writing. For the teacher, mind mapping learning model can be used as a reference in learning, especially in Indonesia. For the school should provide the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the learning process.
