Abstrak

The Implementation of the research stems from the observation sheet, it was found that the teacher was still use explanation method in teaching and learning mathematics. It was made most of students were busy with their own activity in the classroom. In addition, teachers also used traditional way in dividing students into some groups. So, these problems made fifth grade students of SD 1 Undaan Kidul kudus was low in mathematics learning achievement. The Preliminary data of learning mathematics it was noted that the students average score was 64.79. Therefore, the students are able to reach 70 is point minimally. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the teaching approach need to develop in order to improve the students’ achievement. However, one of the approach that use in teaching Mathematics is Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR), it is because this approach has advantages, such as the material talk about our activity in daily life, the material is memorable, it is also make the students active in learning process and can stimulate their thinking. The purpose of this research is to find out whether the application of Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR) approach can improve learning outcomes in mathematics of fifth grade students of SD 1 Undaan Kidul in Academic Year 2013/2014. Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR) approach is an education approach that the way of learning has to be related to the real world or daily life. The students was given an opportunity to find out the idea and concept of mathematics with their own way and then doing reflection, interpretation, and the strategy that is appropriate the student’s achievement is the changing of individual’ behavior after get the learning process. This research belongs to classroom action research and the subject of this research is fifth grade elementary school students study SD 1 Undaan Kidul academic year 2013/2014. It was conducted by doing two cycles, with two meetings for each cycle. There were four instruments in collecting the data. Namely interviews, tests, observations, and documentation. The technique that was used in analyzing the data were qualitative and quantitative data. Based on the finding in this research, it was found that that there was an improvement from cycle I to cycle II. Meanwhile, the student was average score was 71.45 become 79.8 and the student learning achievement the percentage was 70.83% into 100%. There was an improvement from cycle I to cycle II in student learning activity was 67,19% to 80,73% it was indicated that the criteria was good become excellent. In addition, the teacher skill activity increased in the first cycle to the second cycle was the percentage of average score of 78.57% to 89.28% with high criteria becomes very high. It can be concluded that Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR) approach can improve the learning achievement of mathematics of fifth grade students of SD 1 Undaan Kidul Kudus in academic year 2013/2014. Therefore, Researcher suggests that this research should apply Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR) approach was introduced and developed with the media in order to create fun learning environment, but stay focused.
