Abstrak

The background of this research is the students of the fourth grade of SDN1 Getassrabi has low achievement in social studies. This problem is caused by the implementation of conventional teaching process in the classroom by the teacher. The statement of this research is to find out 1) how is the students’ achievement after being taught by using Numbered Head Together in the development of production technology, communication, and transportation material? 2) how is the activity of class management by the teacher to the social learning after the students being taught by implementing Numbered Head Together model in the development of production technology, communication, and transportation material? The objective of this action research is 1) analyzing the implementation of NHT in social studies material 2) analyzing the activity of class management by the teacher in teaching the development of production technology, communication, and transportation material. Numbered Heads Together method is cooperative learning model which the students are signed by using number. The students study together in group to solve problems. The studens’ ability in studying social is the improvement of the studens’ ability in studying production, communication technology, and transportation. This research is classroom action research using action research design Kemmis&Mc Taggart. This design has 4 steps, those are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This research has done in two cycles and each cycle has two meeting. The subjects of this research are the students of fourth grade of SDN 1 Getassrabi that consist of 20 students. The technique of collecting data used observation, interview, test, and documentation. Then the data that has been collected will be analyzed quantitavely and qualitatively. The result of this research show that the implementation of Numbered Heads Together model in social studies can: (1) improve the students’ achievement, in the pre-cycle show that the mean of the students’ scores is 71 with criteria 45 % of students have good score. In the cycle one, the mean of students scores is 73,5 with criteria 65 % of students have good score, then in the cycle two the mean of students scores is 79 with criteria 90 % of students have good score. The percentege of the students’ score based on affective criteria is 55,1 % (medium) in the cycle one, then in the cycle two the percentage increase become 62,26 % (high). The students’ achievement based onpsychomotoric increase become 55,3 % (medium) in the cycle one, then it increase again become 68,5 % (high) in the cycle two. (2) the result of observation of class management in the cycle one is 66,75 % (high) then it increase become 74,15 % (high). The conclusion of this research is the implementation of Numbered Head Together model can improve the students’ achievement of the fourth grade students of SDN1 Getassrabi. Then, hopefully the Numbered Head Together model is used in teaching social studies in order to create the active students in the class.
