Abstrak

The baground of this research is about the learningachievement of fourth grade students of SD 1 GondangmanisBae Kudus in social study which is still low. It is happened because the learning process still used teacher centered model and the students are less enthusiastic and attractive in learning process. Therefore, the writer used Problem Solving model to improve students learning achievement in social study. The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the improvement of students learning achievement are cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain in social problem material of fourth grade students of SD 01 GondangmanisBae Kudus, and (2) to describe the teacher's skill in conducting learning process of fourth grade students of SD 01 GondangmanisBae Kudus. This research is done at fourth grade students of SD 01 GondangmanisBae Kudus that consists of 21 students as subject of the research. This research used classroom action research that consists of 2 cycles by using problem solving model. The design of classroom action research used Stephen Kemmis and Robin Nc Taggart's design by using steps (1) planning (2)acting (3)observing, and (4)reflecting. The data collection used observation, test, interview, and documentation. The data analysis used qualitative and quantitative technique. The result of this research shows that: in the first cycle of cognitive scoring, the students learning achievement in social study is 57% and in the second cycle improve to be 90%. In the first cycle of affective scoring, the students learning achievement is categorized "sufficient" by the percentage score is 62.2% and in the second cycle the percentage improve to be 75.6% which is categorized "good". The students learning achievement in social study of psicomotor scoring, in the first cycle the result is categorized "sufficient" by the percentage 63.5% and it is improved in the second cycle by the percentage 77% which is categorized "good". The result of character observation also improve from 60.5% in the first cycle categorized "sufficient" to 76% in the second cycle categorized "good". Meanwhile, the teacher's skill in conducting learning process got 68% in first cycle categorized "good" improved in the second cycle 86.5% categorized "very good". Based on the result, the writer concludes that the use of Problem Solving as a learning model can improve the students learning achievement in social study of cognitive, affective, psicomotor scoring, improve the students character in caring and responaibility, and also improve teacher's skill in conducting learning process in social study of fourth grade students of SD 01 GondangmanisBaeKudus. The writer suggests, for students should be more dare to argue, work in group should be improved to get maximal result. For teachers should use innovative learning model to make students more active so the students get maximal result and also build character education for better students.
