Abstract

This research and development study is aimed at developing a syllabus model concerning the genre approach for teaching English practice in Muria Kudus University. The existing syllabus and the lecturers’ and students’ needs are the main data taken through observation and questionnaire in the preliminary study. The conceptualization of the syllabus model and the guidance of the syllabus plan were prepared in the development study. The experts’ and the peers’ evaluation are the theoretical and empirical evaluation conducted through questionnaire in the development study. For acquiring the effectiveness of the model, the researcher practised the mastery learning. The findings implied the importance of the syllabus model using genre approach and the recommendation to practice the model in other subjects.
