Story Mapping is a technique to solve the problems. The purpose of the research is to find out whether the reading comprehension of narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Karanganyar Demak in the academic year 2017/2018 is better than before being taught by using story mapping technique. The writer used experimental research design by conducted pre test and post test. There are two variables; story mapping technique as independent variable and the reading comprehension of narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Karanganyar Demak in the academic year 2017/2018 as dependent variable. The writer determines the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Karanganyar Demak in the academic year 2017/2018 as the population. The writer took samples in X MIPA 3 as class of experiment. The result of the experiment can be seen that the calculation of t-test, with the level of significance 5%, the Degree of Freedom (Df) is 39, and t-table (tt) 2.042, the t-obtained (to) is 25.35. In the other words, t-obtained is higher than t-table. In detail, the reading comprehension of narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Karanganyar Demak after being taught by using story mapping technique is better than before. It is showed by the mean is 82.3 and the standard deviation is 5.85. It is higher than the mean of the reading comprehension of narrative text taught by using story mapping technique of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Karanganyar Demak in the academic year 2017/2018 which the mean 64.3 and standard deviation is 6.3. It means that the Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is confirmed. Based on the research result above, the writer concludes that story mapping is one of appropriate technique in teaching reading comprehension. For the teacher and other researcher, story mapping technique can be applied as a way in teaching learning process.
