Abstrak

This research has purpose to improve teacher skills, students’ activeness, and their critical thinking skill on theme one, the beauty of togetherness, especially in Science lesson and Indonesian language lesson aided by simple experiment for fourth graders of Klumpit 5 Primary School Kudus. Critical thinking skill is a deeper nature of thinking about problems to solve problems until evaluate questions. In this case, Science Environment Technology Society model is a model as facility for students to think critically through analyzing, synthetizing, recognizing and solving problems, and concluding and evaluating problems. The action hypotheses are Science Environment Technology Society model can improve teacher skills, students’ activeness, and their critical thinking skill of Klumpit 5 Primary School Kudus in academic year 2018/2019. It was a classroom action research done in fourth graders of Klumpit 5 Primary School Kudus with 13 students as the subjects, lasting for two cycles consisting of four stages namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The independent variables were Science Environment Technology Society and simple experiment, meanwhile the dependent was critical thinking skill. The findings showed improvement on teacher skill, students’ activeness, and critical thinking skill of the students. Teacher skill in preliminary cycle was 38%, poor. Then, it improved in cycle I into 54%, sufficient, and improved again in cycle II into 82%, well. Meanwhile, the students’ activeness on preliminary cycle was 29%, poor. Then, it improved in cycle I into 59%, sufficient, and improved again in cycle II into 73%, well. Critical thinking skill of the students also improved from preliminary cycle until cycle II. It was 11% in pre-cycle, poor. Then, in cycle I, the classical improvement percentage was 38%, poor. Then, in cycle II, it gained classical percentage 85%, well. The conclusion of the research can be explained that the implementation of Science Environment Technology Society could improve teacher skill, students’ activeness, and critical thinking skill of the students to instill self-confidence so during learning they would be more active and easier to focus on teacher’s explanation.
