Abstrak

This research has purpose to describe the implementation of Numbered Head Together (NHT) aided by picture media and to find the improvement of teacher skills and to improve learning achievement of the students in social studies about Tribes and Cultures of Indonesia in fifth graders of Jekulo3 Primary School. Learning achievement is a level of success reached by a student in learning processin the form of test measured by cognitive, affective, and psychomotoric domains.Numbered Heads Together (NHT) model is a grouped cooperative learnng by having number heads to discuss tasks or questions proposed by teacher in which the teacher will call the numbers randomly to present.The action hypothesis is the implementation of NHT model can improve teacher skills and learning achievement of social studies in Tribes and Cultures in Indonesia for fifth graders of Jekulo 3 primary school. This action research was done in fifth grade of Jekulo 3 primary school with 23 students. It was done in two cycles, each of them consisted of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.The independent variable is NHT model. Meanwhile, the dependent variable is learning achievement of social studies. The instruments are interview, observation, test, and documentation.The analysis were qualitative and quantitative. There was significant improvement in teacher skills in cycle I 67.62% (medium) into 83.52% (well). The minimum passing grade of social studies learning achievement in material of Tribes and Cultures was significant between cycle I (69.56%) and cycle II (82.61%), supported by the improvement of Social studies affective domain cycle I 70.86% (medium) into cycle II 76.80% (well). The psychomotoric domain was 65.48%(medium) into 77.34% (well) cycle II. The implementation ofNumbered Heads Together(NHT) aided by picture media can improve learning achievement and teacher skills in materials of Tribes and Cultures in Indonesia. The researcher suggests to implement the model and to develop it by using more various and appropriate to the material to help and facilitate students, motivating them and easy to remember.
