Abstrak

Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy is the strategy or the way to read the text through three steps namely : predicting, reading, and proving which involves the interaction between students and teacher in the whole text. The research of this study is the use of DRTA strategy can improve teacher skills in managing learning and increase student activity in learning in Indonesian language subjects reading comperehension of five grade students of SD 3 Sadang. This classroom action research has been carried out at SDN 3 Sadang with a total of 17 students and this research was conducted in 2 cycles with each cycle of 2 meetings. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The independent variable in this study is the directed reading thinking activity strategy the dependent variable is the students' reading comprehension in Indonesian subjects. Test the validity of the test instrument using the validity of expert judgment. Data analysis techniques use quantitative and qualitative data. The results of this study indicate that by using the directed reading thinking activity strategy can improve teacher skills, student learning activities, and students' reading comprehension skills. Teacher skills in teaching increased from cycle I to an average of 69.28% (Good) to 81.42% (Very good) in cycle II. Student activity in learning increased from cycle I meeting 1 with an average of 62.5% (good) to 70.03% (good) at the meeting 2. Student activity in cycle II meeting 1 got an average percentage of 71.81%, up to 83.08% (Very good) at the second meeting. reading comprehension for students in Indonesian language subjects also increased from cycle I with a percentage of 70.56% completeness to 94.11% in cycle II. In conclusion, by using directed reading thinking activity strategy to improve teacher skills in teaching, student activity in classroom, and the reading comprehention of V grade student of SD 3 SadangKudus.. Therefore, the writer suggested that in applying the DRTA strategyfor improving the reading comprehention of the student and paying attention to all their students when the steps take place, so, the student can understand well about the text
