The Ability of Writing Procedure Text of the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Islam Sudirman Kudus in Academic Year 2012/2013 Taught by Using “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media. Skripsi, English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty Muria Kudus University. Advisors: (i) Drs. Suprihadi, M. Pd. (ii) Nuraeningsih, M. Pd. Key words: Writing Procedure Text and “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media. Writing is one of important skills which must be taught to senior high school students. However, many students have difficulties in writing. Students cannot write well because they have limited knowledge in English, grammar and vocabulary. It makes them repeat the same mistakes in constructing a sentence and cannot express what they have in their mind. It can be seen from the students score is lower than the minimal score (70) given by their teacher. To make the students can understand about writing procedure text, the teacher use an appropriate media. One of media is “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media of teaching used by the writer. The objective of the research is to find out whether there is a significant difference between the writing ability of the tenth grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Kudus in Academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught by using “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as media. The writer uses quantitative experimental research to find out the answer from the statement of the problem. The writer uses“Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media in her research. It is as a mediato solve the problem in writing skill. Her research is using pre-test and post-test. The population is the tenth grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013. The writer uses cluster random sampling to get the sample. The writer got X2 as experiments. The numbers of sample are 24 students. The writer uses an essay test as instrument of the research. The writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013 before being taught by using “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media is sufficient. It based on the score criteria of writing ability. It showed from the result of the test that mean is 64.5 and standard deviation is 7.4. Meanwhile, the writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Kudus after being taught by using “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media is very good. It is showed from the result of the test in which the mean is 84.5 and standard deviation is 6.46. It is easy to understand from the mean score of post-test is higher than the mean of pre-post that there is significant different. But, we have to examine the result of the scores by using t-test and t-table. Then, the result is t-test (to = 20.69) > t-table (tt =2.07). So, there is a significant different between the writing skill before and after being taught by using “Direction Label of Food Sachet” as Media.
