Abstrak

The objective of the research are to know whether the use of picture game improve students’ vocabulary of the third grade of SDN 06 Lebak Pakis Aji in academic year 2021/2022 and to find out the students’ problems in learning vocabulary using picture game. The subjects of this research were the third-grade students of SD N 06 Lebak pakis Aji in academic year 2021/2022. The design of this research is classroom action research. In this research, the researcher would like to know whether there is any improvement in the students’ vocabulary mastery after the teacher applied picture games. The researcher and the teacher conduct this research collaboratively which the research taught the students and the English teacher becomes the observer of the process of teaching and learning by using picture game. The researcher uses Kemmis and Taggart model for conducting the classroom action research activities which consist of a repeated cycle. The researcher uses test and observation as the instrument of the research. From the result of observation to the students, the researcher identified some problem that concerned with vocabulary in the teaching and learning process, the students were lack of vocabulary mastery. The students’ mastering of vocabulary is very low. From the problem, the researcher applies a picture game as the solution. The result shows that the use of pictures game in teaching vocabulary can significantly improve the students’ vocabulary mastery of third-grade students of SDN 06 Lebak Pakis Aji in the academic year of 2021/2022. It is proven by the result of t-test calculation in cycle I is 1425 and 1570 in cycle II. The percentages score of the students who had passed the standardized score is really good. Those are 18,0% in cycle I up to 68,0% in cycle II. In addition, the result shows that the mean of post-test findings in cycle II are higher than the passing grade (KKM) of English Subject in SDN 06 Lebak Pakis Aji, because the passing grade is 70. So, there is a significant improvement after using pictures game media in vocabulary mastery at the third grade students of SDN 06 Lebak Pakis Aji.
