Abstrak

One of the characteristics by which someone is considered to have emotional quotient is that he is able to use language appropriately. The indicator is the ability to put forward idea and thought by using a good logic and manner of language use. Therefore, it is considered necessary to improve logic and manner of language using in promoting emotional quotient. Logic of language use is reflected in presentation of idea through with standard of cohesion and coherence. Manner of language use is the use of language in term of rules of social, esthetic, moral speech act. Manner of language use is indicated by six strategies, those are tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. Meanwhile, emotional quotient is characterized by five basic components, i.e. self awareness, self management, self motivation, empathy, and social intelligence. Based of the second indicator it can be stated that by the improvement of manner and logic of language use, emotional quotient will be well promoted.
