Abstrak

Indonesian language as one of the subjects at the elementary school that an important thing to grow up in a good communication. In Indonesian language ,there are four skills. The language skills include (1) listening, (2) reading, (3) Speaking and (4) writing. Writing skills is the most difficult because it required mastery of the language need practice, practice and practice. The background of this research is the result of interviews with the fifth grade teacher of SDN 01 Temulus Kudus districk problem face by students in writing essays description that are: (1) students are less spirit in writing essays because difficult to determine the essay topic, (2) difficult in writing ideas essay description, (3) students are less spirit in learning essay writing descriptions, and ( 4 ) the results of student writing is not coherent. The fact low skills writing essay are seen in the descriptions of the data assessment results of initial tests with an average value of 64.33 with classical completeness 33.33 % . To improve the skills of writing essays provide descriptions researchers with implementing action learning model picture and picture . The statement of the problem in this research is whether the Implementation of learning models can improve the picture and picture description essay writing skills in the fifth grade students at SDN 1 Temulus Kudus? The purpose of this research is to determine the Implementation of learning models can improve the picture and picture description essay writing skills in the fifth grade elementary school students 01Temulus Kudus . This research is Classroom Action Research ( CAR ) in two cycles with the planning, action, observation, and reflection. Place of this research in SDN 1 Temulus Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 , Subjects in this study was fifth grade students at SDN 01 Temulus Kudus in academic year 2013/2014, among 15 students. Techniques Collection of the data are using written tests, observatio, interviews , and documentation. Techniques the analysis of in this research are quantitative data and qualitative data. The results showed that an increase in the description essay writing skills shown by the test scores and activities encouraging learning. The result showed the average value of the final grade in the first cycle ( 68.2 ) and the second cycle ( 76.26 ) . Percentage achieving class KKM in Cycle I ( 73.33 % ) and second cycle ( 93.33 % ). Learning outcomes of students increased by 40 % after research conducted . Teacher skills in the implementation of learning models picture and picture that is increased in the first cycle ( 75 % ) the classification is good (successful), and the second cycle ( 85.42 % ) is very good classification . Thus , these findings are consistent with the research hypothesis that the implementation of learning models can improve the picture and picture description essay writing skills fifth grade elementary students 1 Temulus Kudus District. Based on the empirical fact concluded that through the implementation of learning models can improve the picture and picture description essay writing skills fifth grade elementary school students 01Temulus Kudus District school year 2013/2014 . Other researchers who apply the learning model picture and picture would suggest to be able to prepare properly learning to be carried out with attention media more varied and innovative images that appeal to elementary students.
