Abstrak

Dwi Jayanto, Obet. 2013. Code Mixing used by Teaching Practice Students of EED in Teaching English in SMK Kristen Nusantara Kudus 2012/2013. Skripsi. English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muria Kudus University. Advisor: (1) Ahdi Riyono, SS, M.Hum, (2) Rismiyanto, SS, M.Pd. Key words: Language, Code Mixing, Teaching Practice Language is an important thing in a communication that is used by human being. It is an instrument to send person’s message, idea, or mind to another person. In our daily life we always share our thought by using two or more languages. The speaker often inserts one language elements into other languages. This event is called code mixing. On this condition the writer tries to analyze code mixing used by Teaching Practice Students of EED in Teaching English in SMK K Nusantara Kudus 2012/2013 which uses code mixing in interact with the students. This code mixing happens when TPS use two languages together to the extent that he changes by inserting pieces of one language to another in one course of single utterance. This research is aimed at (i) finding the forms of code mixing used by TPS of EED in Teaching English in SMK K Nusantara Kudus 2012/2013 (ii) Finding the function of code mixing used by TPS of EED in Teaching English in SMK K Nusantara Kudus 2012/2013. This research is descriptive qualitative. The data of the research is taken from the 5 teaching videos of Students who teach in SMK K Nusantara Kudus. Based on the result of the study, the writer had succeeded collecting the forms code mixing used by Teaching Practice Students of EED in Teaching English in SMK K Nusantara Kudus 2012/2013. There are five forms of code mixing are found in Teaching Practice Students of EED in Teaching English in SMK K Nusantara Kudus 2012/2013, They are word, phrase, hybrid, word reduplication, and clause. The writer found 26 forms of word, 47 forms of phrase, 4 forms of hybrid, 1 form of word reduplication and 31forms of clause. While, the function of code mixing the writer found four functions, they are Informational function, Directive function, and Phatic function. The functions consist of 79 Informational Function, 29 codes mixing of Directive Function, and 1 codes mixing as Phatic function. In analyzing functions of code mixing, it cannot be seen word by word. It should be seen and understood as a whole, based on the context of the speaking. From the conclusion of this research, the writer suggest to people know about code mixing and to use code mixing in their communication because it is important to add their vocabularies, specially people who want to master of English language they may use code mixing before.
