Abstrak
Writing skill is one of important skills. It is an ability to express the student ideas to write something. The students are able to share their ideas from their brain. But in writing, the students may find difficulties and make some mistakes because the students must pay attention the elements of writing ability such us grammar, vocabulary, coherence and spelling. In this research the writer used written descriptive text to measure in MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus in writing. The objective of this research is to test the significant difference between the writing ability of the tenth grade students of MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus in Academic Year 2013/2013 before and after taught by using round robin technique. This research is an experimental research. This research took place at MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus. The population was the tenth grade students of MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus in academic year 2013/2014. The writer takes one class as the sample by using cluster random sampling. The writer got X A class, consist of 34 students. The writer gave written test by giving pre-test and post-test. The result of the research in pre test before being taught by using Round Robin Technique are: the minimum score is 32, the maximum score is 83 and the mean of pre test is 51.9. Meanwhile the standard deviation is 12.92. It indicates the the writing ability of the tenth grade students of MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 before being taught by using Round Robin Technique is categorized as poor. The results of the experiment in post test after being taught by using Round Robin Technique are: the minimum score is 45, the maximum score is 93 and the mean of post test 72,08. Meanwhile the standard deviation is 9.59. It indicates that the writing ability of the tenth grade students of MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 after being taught by using Round Robin Technique is categorized good. After processing the data found, the mean of the post test is better than the pre test. (72.08 > 51.9). the data t observation t0 is 16.76, the level of significant (α) is 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) 34 which is gained from N-1, the t-table is 2.042. It concluded that there is significant difference between the writing ability of the tenth grade students of MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus academic Year 2013/2014 before and after taught by using Round Robin Technique. From the data above, t- observation is higher than t-table (t0 > tt), the writer concludes that there is significant difference between the writing ability of the tenth grade students of MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 before and after being taught by using round robin technique.The writer hopes this research can be used by English teachers are to apply Round Robin Technique in writing activities. Because based on the study, it was an effective technique to teach writing descriptive text. It can improve students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.
