Abstrak
The background of this research is by the low achievement of the 5th grade students in SD 3 Piji in Mathematics education. The low of learning achievement was caused by the teacher given the mathematics concept directly to the student and they received in learning mathematics. Based on the background above, the researcher does research by using Realistic Mathematics Approach. The research problem from this research is (1) Does the implementation of realistic mathematics approach materials plane properties can improve student learning achievement at the 5th grade students in SD 3 Piji? (2) Does the implementation of realistic mathematics approach materials plane properties can improve learning student activities at the 5th grade students in SD 3 Piji? (3) Does the implementation of realistic mathematics approach on plane properties content can improve teacher’s skill to manage the learning at the 5th grade students in SD 3 Piji? The purpose of this research is to improve the learning achievement of mathematics, the students learning activities, and teacher’s skill to manage the learning activities by using realistic mathematics approach materials plane properties. The learning achievement of mathematics is the behavior obtained student having experienced learning mathematics process viewed from cognitive aspect, affective and psychomotor. Realistic Mathematics Education approach was learning approach based on the real things of the students, so the students could find themselves their knowledge to finish the problems. The hypothesis was presented that there was an improving learning achievement mathematics materials plane properties with the implementation of realistic mathematics approach at the 5th grade students in SD 3 Piji in academic year 2013/2014. This research design was a classroom action research done at 5th grade in SD 3 Piji. The research subjects were 17 students and a teacher that lasted in two cycles, where every cycle consisted of two meeting. The independent variable was the Realistic Mathematics Education approach, while the dependent variable was the learning achievement mathematics materials plane properties. The methode of collection data observations, tests, and documentation. The data that was found from the action done was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this research showed that using realistic mathematics approach can improve the students learning activities, the teacher’s skill to manage the learning, and the learning achievement of mathematics. It can be marked by the indicators as follows; (1) The student activities on the first cycle to the second cycle gets the average from 2.71 to 3.28 with qualification is "very good". (2) The improving the teacher’s skill to manage the learning on the first cycle to the second cycle is average from 2.81 to 3.21 with qualification is “good”. (3) The learning achievement mathematics is also increase. It can be shown by improving of the class average value on the first cycle to the second cycle from 74,71 became 81,18. The conclusions in this research is that the realistic mathematics approach materials plane properties can improve the learning achievement mathematics in 5th grade students at SD 3 Piji in academic year 2013/2014.The suggestions of this research, were that students should try to do mathematics questions related to mathematic’s problem solving ability. The teacher should prepare the realistic problems. The school should be facilitated equipment to accommodate the learning so that it can be more optimal. The next researcher should be preparing the learning source and authentic assessment techniques exactly so the learning indicators were reached.
