Abstrak

The background of this research is the low result study of the fourth grade students of SD 02 Adiwarno Kudus in the civic education subject. The low achievement of PKn learning is caused by the learning still use communicative method and centered to the teacher (teacher center learning). Based on that background the researcher does the research by using Cooperative Learning model type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions). The purpose of this research is to improve the result study of civic education, students learning activity, and the skill of the teacher in managing the learning by implementing Cooperative Learning model type STAD to the civic education subject. This research is classroom action research that is done in the fourth grade students of SD 02 Adiwarno Kudus. The subject of the research are 16 students and a teacher conducting in two cycles. Every cycle consists of two meeting. Free variable of this research is Cooperative Learning model type STAD. As the bound variable in this research is the result of students’ civic education study. The method of collecting data in this research is observation, test, and interview and documentation. The data gotten from the action is analyzed in quantitative and qualitative. The result of the research showed that the use of Cooperative Learning model type STAD can improve the result of students’ civic education study, the students’ learning activity, and the skill of the teacher in managing the learning. This can be seen from the fulfilled indicator of the achievement as follow (1) The students’ result of civic education increases, seen from the improvement of the average score class from cycle I to cycle II, that is 67.81 become 71.56 (2) The students’ learning activity in cycle I get the average percentage as 62.5% with the qualification “satisfied” and in cycle II the average percentage increase into 78% with the qualification “good” (3) The improvement of the teacher’s skill in managing the learning in cycle I get the average percentage 62.5% with the qualification “satisfied” and in cycle II the average percentage increase into 78% with the qualification “good”. The conclusion in this research is the implementation of Cooperative Learning model type STAD for the learning of PKn subject can improve the result of students’ civic education study of the fourth grade students of SD 02 Adiwarno Kudus in academic year 2013/2014. The suggestion in this research is the students can be more active in learning process and improving the group cooperation. The teacher is hoped to motivate the students to become more active in learning process by doing the consultation intensively.
