Abstrak

The background cases of this action research was low mathematics learning achievement on the fourth grade students of SDN Jungpasir because learning process still centered on teacher, and not associated with the real situation. The formulation problem of this action research was what implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method can improve mathematics learning achievement on characteristics of geometry material on the fourth grade students of SDN Jungpasir academic year 2013/2014?. The purpose of this action research was to know the success of implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method in improve mathematics learning achievement on characteristics of geometry material. Implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method in learning were constructivism with demonstration method, inquiry with demonstration method, questioning, learning community, modelling with demonstration method, reflection, and authentic assessment. This action research was conducted in SDN Jungpasir Demak. The subject on this action research were the fourth grade students of SDN Jungpasir academic year 2013/2014, amounting to 18 students (14 male students and four female students). This action research consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection methods such as observation, interviews, tests, field notes, and documentation. The instrument such as observation sheets, interview guides, achievement test, field record sheets, and photos. Data analysis techniques such as quantitative and qualitative. The results of the research showed that the mathematics mastery learning (cognitive domain) in the first cycle as big as 44.44% with an average value of 67.78, and the second cycle to 83.33% with an average value 77.33. The affective domain of the mathematics learning achievement in the first cycle as big as 63.72% (sufficient), and the second cycle increase becomes 80.27% (good). The psychomotor domain of the mathematics learning achievement in the first cycle as big as 64.58% (sufficient), and the second cycle increase becomes 78.39% (good). Teachers' skills in managing learning in the first cycle as big as 69.79% (good), and the second cycle increase becomes 87.5% (very good). The conclusions in this action research was implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method can improve the mathematics learning achievement on characteristics of geometry material of the fourth grade students of SDN Jungpasir. The suggestions in this action research include: (1) teachers should give direction and motivate students at every stage of implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method so that students can follow the mathematics learning well; (2) students should be more active and more quiet in participating in mathematics learning by Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method; (3) schools should motivate teachers in implement of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method in the mathematics learning, monitoring teachers’ performance in implement of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method in the mathematics learning; (4) researchers should plan of implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning model with demonstration method in the mathematics learning well, explain the material clearly and guiding the process of discovery material concepts, and supervising students in group discussions.
