Abstrak

The background of this research was science learning achievement in 5th students of SD 1 Peganjaran still relatively low. The low of this result was caused by the teacher who still used conventional methods and less media as properties that using in the learning process, but actually the environment was very supporting to become a learning media. Based from these data, it need to develop a learning model to make the students more active and participative. The model was Contextual Teaching and Learning model through environment utilization. The research aims to describe student’s activities, teacher’s capability, and Science learning achievement in properties of light material at 5th students of SD 1 Peganjaran. Contextual Teaching and Learning is one of learning strategy that involve the students active in direct learning, has an experience from the learning process, and can apply their experience in their live. The environment as a learning media helps the students to follow the learning process, in physical, social, and cultural environment. This research was focused on improvement of learning achievement, student’s activities, and teacher’s capability. The method of this research is classroom action research (CAR). This classroom action research was carried out in 2 cycles, with each cycle stage is the planning, acting, observation and reflection. Data analysis that used in this research were quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The technique of collecting data that used in this research were observation, test, and documentation. In the cycle I, the percentage of teacher’s capability is 76,87% with good criteria and increased to 84,37% with good criteria in cycle II. The percentage of student learning achievement on affective domain in cycle I is 56,67% with sufficient criteria and increased to 87,21% with good criteria in cycle II. The percentage of student learning achievement on psychomotor domain in cycle I is 56,57% with sufficient criteria and increased to 83,41% with good criteria in cycle II. Based from these indicator it can be concluded that implementation of contextual teaching and learning model through environment can improve Science learning achievement in 5th students of SD 1 Peganjaran Kudus. Based from this conclusion, the researcher need to ask advice for the teacher to develop contextual teaching and learning through environment to make the students more easier to understand the subject material.
