Abstrak

The background of this research is the level of understanding the concept of the low student learning because the teachers use still conventional, boring learning makes students not tend to be active in learning. Because of this problem, researchers apply the learning model concept maps in an effort to improve understanding of the concepts applied in the development of material production technology, communications and transportation. Concept map is a graphical illustration that is used to determine the level of students' understanding of the material they have learned . Understanding the concept of a person's ability to understand and comprehend what dperoleh by explaining the language itself . Social learning is learning that examines the coverage of the material in the human society groups called. This study uses a model of Kemmis & Mc . Taggart consisting of 2 cycles and each cycle consisting of planning , action , observation and refleksi.subyek in this research that teachers and students fourth grade 1 Gribig Gebog Holy District students numbering 29 people consisting of 18 women and 11 The entrepreneurs men . Data collection techniques used in this study are ( 1 ) observation , ( 2 ) interviews , ( 3 ) test , ( 4 ) documentation . The analysis technique used is the kuantuitatif and qualitative. These results indicate that the level of understanding of the concept of cycle 1 students scored an average of 14.69 with both criteria with the percentage of 69.96 % and a 11.5 % increase in cycle 2 with an average score of 16.39 with both criteria with percentage of 78.06 % . Management of teacher learning cycle I get an average score of 3.0 with either the percentage criteria of 60% and an increase of 38 % in the second cycle with an average score of 4.1 with the criteria very well with the percentage of 82.85 % . Student learning outcomes increased with the initial condition class average score of 58.3 up 11.3 % in cycle 1 to 64.9 and up 9.9 % at cycle 2 to 71.3 . Conclusions that can be drawn in this study that the application of the concept map learning in social studies material production technology development , communication and transportation can improve students' understanding of concepts , skills teacher and student learning outcomes . Researchers suggest to teachers to use concept maps as an alternative model of learning to create interesting learning to improve student understanding .
