Abstrak

Before doing the classroom action research, the mathematics learning achievement of fourth grade students of SD 4 Jekulo in academic year 2013/2014 are still low. It was caused of some factors such as the conventional teaching method that used by teacher, the use of preching method, the teaching method tends to rote, never use cooperative teaching method, the teacher gives students less opportunity to think and interact with other students, so that, the students become less creative. The objective of this research was to know the improvement of mathematics learning achievement in addition and subtraction of fractions material of fourth grade students of SD 4 Jekulo, Jekulo, Kudus in academic year 2013/2014 through Think Pair Share model. Learning achievement was the change in behaviour as the students learning acquisition. Think Pair Share model was a learning model designed to influence students interaction. Think Pair Share model was a cooperative learning method that gives oppotunity for students to have more time to think, respond and help each other. Teacher gives material in classical and group. Students was divided in some groups. Teacher gives the rules and tasks for each groups. This classroom action research was implement in SD 4 Jekulo. The reasearch subject was all of fourth grade students of SD 4 Jekulo which consist 26 students, 16 boys and 10 girls. This research consist of two variables. The independent variable of this research was the use of Think Pair Share model. The dependent variable was the students learning achievement. This research consists of two cycles. The writers used observation, interview, test, and documentation as the data collection. The instrument of this research are test for each cycles, observation sheet of the students learning activity and abservations sheet of teacher skill in managing learning process. The data analysis used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result shows that mathematics achievement in addition and subtraction of fractions material increase in each cycles. The percentage of students learning achievement increases 73,08% in the first cycle to 88,46% in second cycle. The percentage of learning activities in the second cycle was higher than the fist cycle (81,14% > 71,84%). Meanwhile, the percentage of teacher skills in managing learning activities increases 74,57% in fist cycle to 84,05% in second cycle. Based on the result of this research, the writer concludes that the mathematics achievement in addition and subtraction of fractions material of fourth grade students of SD 4 Jekulo can improve after being taught by using Think Pair Share model. The writer suggests, Think Pair Share model can used by elementary school teachers as one of innovative teaching methods to improve students learning achievement especially in mathematics subject
