Abstrak

When people use two language or more by inserting the element of one language to the other, which is used consistently, it is call code mixing. We usually find code mixing in radiobroadcast by the broadcaster, novel, newspaper, magazine and many more. But sometimes people do not realize that they used and find mixing word in they daily activity. Jawa Post is one of newspaper need for some people in modern information and life. The headline economic business uses two languages. They are English and Indonesian language. In this research, the writer carriers out the research entitled “Code Mixing Analysis on the Headline of Economic Business Articles of Jawa Pos Daily Newspaper, in October Edition 2011. The objective in the research are (1) to find out the form of code mixing on the Headline of Economic Business Articles of Jawa Pos Daily Newspaper, in October Edition 2011 (2) to find out the functions of code mixing on the Headline of Economic Business Articles of Jawa Pos Daily Newspaper, in October Edition 2011. The design of the research is descriptive qualitative research. The writer uses descriptive qualitative research because describes form and function of code mixing. The data word and phrase in code mixing on the Headline of Economic Business Articles of Jawa Pos Daily Newspaper, in October Edition 2011. The result of the research show that (i) the writer found 67 form of code mixing. Those code mixing of 40 words, 24 phrases, 3 clauses,0 word reduplication, 0 idiom, 0 hybrid.(ii) the writer found 67 function of code mixing. Those code mixing of 46 informational function, 16 expressive function, 0 directive function,0 phatic function. Thus, the writer suggests that the readers especially the student of English Education Department of Muria Kudus University are expected to be able to recognize and understand the using of code mixing based on the context. Beside that, the readers are able to know the form and function that the use of code mixing in order that they can understand the text easily.
