Abstrak

The first thing has to be taught to the students of Elementary School is vocabulary; mastering vocabulary is the most important thing before they are being able to read, listen, speak, and write. Vocabulary mastery plays a very important role in all levels of study including Elementary School.However, many students still have difficulties in understanding the English lesson, and the fifth grade students of MI NU Miftahul Ulum Honggosoco-Jekulo-Kudus are one of them. Most of them have limitation in mastering English Vocabulary. One cause the writer found is they think that English is very difficult, so that the teacher does not know what they want and need in Learning process. Concerning to this condition , the written thinks it would be better to use media that come from by around the class and real , and Puppet is the most appropriate Media to solve the problem. By using Puppet, the process of teaching –learning becomes fun because there are real object that can be touched, smelt, seen and others, so the students would be confident and enjoy during the learning processes. The purposes of this research are (1) to find out the extent of English vocabulary mastery of fifth grade students of MI NU Miftahul Ulum Honggosoco-Jekulo-Kudus before being taught by using Puppet media. (II) to find out the extent of English ` by using Puppet media, and (III)to find out whether there is any significance difference of fifth grade students of MI NU Miftahul Ulum Honggosoco-Jekulo-Kudus before and after being taught by using Puppet media. The result of the pretest shows that (1) the highest score is 81 and the lowest score is 64 from the calculation, the mean of pretest is 68,4 and the standard deviation is 10,2.This result shows that the students vocabulary mastery before experiment is categorized as low. Meanwhile (II) the result of posttest shows the highest score is 93 and the lowest score is 59.The mean of posttest score is 78,6 and the standard of deviation is 8,5 it means that the students vocabulary mastery after experiment is categorized as good and it means there is significance difference of English vocabulary mastery of fifth grade students of MI NU Miftahul Ulum Honggosoco-Jekulo-Kudus after being taught by using Puppet media(t observation = (4,391.>t table 2,04). Based on the result, it is clear that the English Vocabulary mastery of the students those are taught by using puppet media is better. Therefore, the writer suggests that it would be better for the teacher to use puppet as one of the medias in teaching English Vocabulary and also the teacher should creative to teach vocabulary to the students using teaching media ex; Puppet, so that the students can acquire some vocabularies easily
