Abstrak

Reinforcement is act of making something stronger or action of someone who aims to build. When teachers master reinforcement well, they can make the students feel more interested, motivated, confident, and enjoy in class during teaching and learning process, especially in teaching English at MTS Nurul Islam Jepara. So, in order to create quality learning, teachers are demanded to have basic skills of teaching and managing class well and give reinforcement to the students. Because, the students think that learning English is a difficult subject to learn. They do not understand what the teachers say. Most of them are too afraid on making mistakes, less of confidences and motivation. Based on the objective of the research are as follows; what types of verbal, gestural, and token reinforcement found in teaching English at MTS Nurul Islam Jepara in Academic Year 2017/2018. This research is a qualitative research. The design of the research is Descriptive Qualitative design. The data of this research is the Teachers’ Reinforcement. The data source is English teachers in MTS Nurul Islam Jepara. The instrument in this research is observation. The result of this research shows that the types of Teachers Reinforcement found in teaching English at MTS Nurul Islam Jepara in Academic Year 2017/2018 is verbal reinforcement and gestural reinforcement. Based on the result, the researcher concludes that the teachers was already used verbal and gestural reinforcement in teaching English. But, no token reinforcement is found from both teachers. So from suggestion, the teachers should give a little bit more reinforcement variations than before to get the students attentions, make students enjoyable in the class and to motivate them. The teacher should give token reinforcement also to the students.
