Abstrak

This study aims to explain interest and motivation in learning in grade VI mathematics subjects at SD Negeri 4 Bringin, explain the factors that influence interest and motivation to learn in grade VI mathematics subjects at SD Negeri 4 Bringin, and explain mathematics learning strategies in grade VI students at SD Negeri 4 Bringin. Interest is an attraction that can cause someone to do something desired. Motivation is the drive that exists in a person to do something to achieve the desired goal. Efforts made by teachers to increase interest and motivation in learning mathematics are by using learning strategies. The type of research used in this study is qualitative descriptive. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 4 Bringin with the subject of research 4 students and 1 grade VI teacher of SD Negeri 4 Bringin. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data in this study used time triangulation. Data analysis in this study uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that the interest and motivation to learn mathematics in grade VI students of SD Negeri 4 Bringin varied. Internal factors that influence interest in learning mathematics include: a) learning materials are easy to understand; b) comfortable room conditions; c) the conditions of the place of study are calm. External factors that affect interest in learning mathematics are: a) the results of grades obtained by other students; b) learning media. Family factors that influence motivation to learn mathematics are: a) parental attention; b) pocket money given by parents. School factors that influence motivation to learn mathematics include: a) the relationship between teachers and students is good; b) the establishment of good relations between students and other students. Intrinsic factors that influence motivation to learn mathematics include: a) the ideals that students have. The mathematics learning strategy used by grade VI teachers of SD Negeri 4 Bringin is to use the lecture method. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers, it can be concluded that the interests and learning motivations of grade VI students of SD Negeri 4 Bringin are different. Factors that influence student interest and motivation come from internal and external factors. It is known that the learning strategy used by teachers in teaching is to use the lecture method with the help of book learning media.
