Abstrak

Speaking skill is a skill or competence to expose ideas or opinion orally which can be understood. In this final project, the writer wants to know the improvement the students’ speaking skill of eleventh grade students of MA Darul Ulum Purwogondo in academic year 2011/2012 by using Role Play Clip. There is a basic problem that the writer wants to discuss, that is: can Role Play Clip improve the speaking skill of the eleventh grade students of MA DarulUlumPurwogondo in academic year 2011/2012?”. In teaching speaking, the writer use Role Play Clip. The Role Play Clip is one of the teaching techniques where the students do the action/role play in front of the class and make it in form ofvideo. This technique can help the students improve their speaking skill. They have to practice this technique in front of the class. The objective of the study is to improve the students’ speaking skill by using Role Play Clip. This research will give some useful and anvantages for students in teaching ands learning process. The students will be interest to speak in front of the class. This research was conducted in MA Darul Ulum Purwogondo. The writer used a classroom action research with 35 students (21 girls and 14 boys)of XI IPA as subject. This research consisted of 3 cycles and each cycle consits of planning, action, obsevation, and reflection. The instruments of the research were by using tests. Observations were done to know students’ and teacher’ activities and questionnaires were also be done to know the teacher’s problem in teaching English to improve speaking skill by Using Role Play Clip. Based on the data analysisduring 3 cycles.The writer concludes that there is an increase in students’ speaking skill. The result of the test shows that students’ score in cycle I was 66.57. It means that the test was not successful. In cycle II, the result of test was 68, it means there was an increase. The result of test in cycle III was 71.71, so the Role Play Clip can improve the students speaking skill. Because the research was successful, the writer suggests the teacher uses Role Play Clip to teach speaking. It can make the students interest and have good confidence when they want to speak.
