Abstrak

English pop songs is one of the media that can be used to learn pronunciation in English, because English pop songs have lyrics that are easy to understand, a slow rhythm so that they are easy to follow. English students must be able to pronounce pronunciation properly and correctly in pronouncing a word or sentence in English. Students often listen to English pop songs to improve their pronunciation skills, so that it can help students to improve and develop their pronunciation skill. Based on these problems, the purpose of this research was to find out English Education Department Students perception on the impact of English pop songs towards their English pronunciation skill of Eight semester students’ of English Education Department students, Muria Kudus University. In this research, researcher used qualitative descriptive, the researcher used 20 participants 8th semester English Education Department Students’. In collecting data, the researcher used a questionnaire. From the questionnaire then researcher calculated using the percent, score, and analysis description the questionnaire. The result shows that the students have positive perception on the impact of English pop songs, it prove that English pop songs could help the students toward their English pronunciation skill. The students feel easy when listen to English pop song to learn pronunciation or improve their pronunciation. The students’ also feel enjoy and relax when listen to English pop song toward their pronunciation skill. At the end of this research, the researcher hopes that English pop songs can be used as a media for students to learn, or improve their pronunciation skill. And can be used as motivation for students who want to learn pronunciation or improve pronunciation using English pop songs. For teachers, the researcher hopes that English pop songs can be used as a media for teaching pronunciation. and for future researcher, researcher hope that this research can be used as a recommendation for future researchers who want to research similar research the impact of English pop songs toward their pronunciation skill.
