Abstrak
Reading Comprehension Reading is the process of reconstructing the writer idea written in a text or printed symbols based on the background knowledge and experience. Reading is one of the language skills which is important for academic success because reading is basic to learn English. This research aims (1) To describe or find out the teachers’ strategies in teaching reading comprehension at MAN 1 Kudus. The specific objectives of this research to find out the teaching strategies used by the English teachers’ in teaching reading comprehension, (2) To describe the obstacles in English teachers in teaching reading comprehension. This research used descriptive qualitative research design. The participants of this research is the English teachers at MAN 1 Kudus. This research uses structured interview. There are 7 questions related to English teachers’ implement strategies in teaching reading comprehension. To describe English teachers’ strategies does the teacher use in teaching reading comprehension. Based on the result and interview the teacher, it is concluded that the teacher has used strategies in teaching reading comprehension. The strategies used by the teachers in teaching reading comprehension are (1) Conducting discussion, (2) Giving interesting topic for reading, (3) Ask the students to try getting the answer and related it with their daily activities. The obstacles faced by the teachers in teaching reading comprehensions are (1) Lack of vocabularies, (2) Limited time, (3) Low motivation in reading, and (4) Students not confident in their pronunciations To help students improved their reading comprehension, teachers can be asking the students to discuss the material together, give some difficult questions and discuss it until the students get the best answer, ask the students to try getting the answer and related it with their daily activities.
