Abstrak

This research studies two aspects. Firstly, what are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that are faced in developing Ngesti Pandowo; and Secondly, how are the strategies to develop Ngesti Pandowo. In this research , the writer uses survey survey and questionaire method by SWOT analysis technique. To help the analysis, the data collection is done by document , literature study, observation, and questionaire. The research findings indicate that the SWOT components for the development of Ngesti Pandowo, that is, the strengths (S) covering the support from the government office, good at packaging and stage management, and young actors or actresses regeneration system; the weaknesses (W) covering the organization management system that is carried out with old-fashioned ways, and is not developing the publication and promotion system; the opportunities (O) covering the name of Ngesti Pandowo that has been wellknown in the international world (being a legend) , Ngesti Pandowo has been the trade mark of Semarang. There has not been a traditional attraction in Semarang that can be promoted as the tourism attraction. The foreign tourists like traditional attraction ; and threats (T) covering the community image, and competitor differentiation demand. So far, Ngesti Pandowo in developing its existence is by implementing the junior actors and actresses regeneration strategy, and the cooperation strategy. The implementation of the strategy, and the cooperation strategy . The implementation of the strategy is not in accordance with the result of SWOT analysis. That is why in order that the development of Ngesti Pandowo as the tourism attraction in Semarang will be better. The internal and external condition must be put into consideration as the result of SWOT analysis suggests. Based on the result of SWOT analysis, the development strategy of Ngesti Pandowo in order to become tourism attraction in Semarang needs to apply five strategies, namely (1) the competitor differentiation strategy, (2) publication and promotion strategy , (3) the access development strategy, (4) education strategy, and (5) the existence reorientation strategy.
