Abstrak

Personal letter writing materials requires the ability to think what he wants to express to someone who intended. Nearly half of the fourth grade students 3 Wates has not been able to develop his idea in writing a personal letter to coherently, because the teachers have not been intensively guiding the stages of the writing and the teacher has not taught students to write personal letters creatively. The purpose of this research are: (1) Describe the learning activities of students at SDN 3 Wates class IV Subdistrict Undaan District Kudus with the implementation of the learning model of problem solving skills in learning to write personal letters; (2) Describe the teacher's skill in managing the learning skills of writing a personal letter to apply the learning model of problem solving; (3) Find the increase in writing personal letter of students at SDN 3 Wates class IV Subdistrict Undaan District Kudus after using the learning model of problem solving. Writing is a person's ability to express ideas or thoughts to the other party by using the media posts. Personal letter is a letter sent by a family member, friend, or friend of the family members, friends or companions. Personal nature, casual and intimate. Problem Solving Learning Model encourages students to find and solve a problem in order to achieve the goal of teaching. The syntax of this model are presents problems that meet these criteria, students in groups or individually identify patterns or rules are presented, students identify, explore, investigate, suspect, and finally found a solution. Methods of data collection used in this research is the method of testing and nontes. Test methods in the form of a written test with multiple choice questions at the end of the cycle. While the method nontes form of observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that with the value of Indonesian KKM 65 and value of completeness students KKM 75, obtainable values of prasiklus with the average at below KKM is 58.4 and classical completeness by 36%. At the very low category there are 5 students, at the low category there are 7 students, at the sufficient category there are 8 students, at the high category there are 5 students, but there are no students in the category of very high. In the first cycle, classical completeness reaches KKM 88%, 3 students have not reached the KKM (65). There are no students in the category of low and very low. There are 3 students in the sufficient category. In the high category there were 10 students, while in the very high category there are 12 students.The percentage of students' learning activities by 86.42%and the percentage of teachers learning management 87%. The conclusions of this research areapplication of learning models problem solving can improve the skills of writing a personal letter in students at SD 3 Wates class IV. Based on this research, researchers suggest for students:during the learning process students should pay attention in earnest and actively involved in the learning process. For the teacher:when experiencing learning problems which are identical to those researchers face, teachers can apply the learning model of problem solving.For schools: the school should provide facilities and infrastructurenecessary to facilitate the learning process associated with a learning model of problem solving.
