Abstrak

This research aims to describe the inquiry model that can improve student’s understanding of concept, describe understanding of concepts through inquiry model assisted by the style box media on theme 8 in SD 4 Getas Pejaten. Inquiry model is a learning process that encourages students more excited by involving themselves to find a concept that is learned. Teacher skills possessed by the teachers in order to provide stundent’s knowledge. This research uses style box. Style box is a box – shaped media in which consists of one kind of style. Media box style consists of thick cardboard. The hypothesis in this research is the application of Inquiry model assistes by style box media to improve stundent’s understanding of concepts in elementary school. This class action research was conducted in class IV SD 4 Getas Pejaten with the research subject is 27 stundents. This research done for two cycle, every consists of 4 steps there ware planning, implementary, observing, and reflecting. Independent variable in this reserach is Inquiry model. Dependent variable in this research is student’s understanding of concepts. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis used are qualitatif and quantitatif. The results showed an increase in understanding of the concept of cycle on goined an average og 69,31. In cycle two an increase gained an average og 75. Tehacher’s skill also increased with an average from cycle one 67% and 78% in cycles two. This result showed that stundent’s understnading of concepts can be improved through inquiry model style box media in class IV SD 4 Getas Pejaten. Based on this class action research which is conducted in class IV SD 4 Getas Pejaten, be concluded that understanding concepts can be improved through inquiry style media assisted inquiry models class IV SD 4 Getas Pejaten.Therefore, it is recommended to apply the inquiry model assisted by the media style box, the teacher is more active and innovates in improving student’s understanding of concepts.
