Abstrak

English is as an international language. There are four important skills in English. They are listening, speaking, reading and writing. Writing is a way to express the writers ideas based on their thought and feelings into the form of written language. However, to put his ideas, experience, thinking, and feeling, and organize into the writing is not easy. This is same the problems that are faced by the fifth grade students of SD N 3 Klaling in academic years 2011/2012. They still have difficult to write answer the question. To solve the problem, one of the solutions is by applying body clock game. The purpose of the research are: to find out the telling time ability of the fifth grade students of SD N 3 KLALING in academic years 2011/2012 before being taught by using body clock game, to find out the data about the telling time ability of the fifth grade of SD N 3 KLALING in academic years 2011/2012 after being taught by using body clock game, To find out whether there is any significant difference of the telling time ability of fifth grade students of SD N 3 KLALING in academic years 2011/2012 before and after being taught by using body clock game. The design of this research is experimental research by using body clock game as a technique which is done by giving treatments and post test to know the telling time ability of the students. Based on the analysis, the writer found the telling time ability before being taught by using body clock game or the pretest highest score is 85 and the lowest score is 45. While the means is 65.7 and the standard deviation is 22.88. But after the treatment or after being taught through imaginary conversation, the highest and the lowest score are 90 and 70. Then, the mean and the standard deviation are 77.3 and 12.32. Moreover, the writer found t-observation result is 6.18 and the t-table is 2.45 on the level 5%. It means that t-observation > t-table. So, there is a significant different between the telling time ability of the fifth grade students of SD N 3 Klaling in the aacademic year 2011/2012 before and after being taught by using body clock game. Based on the result above, the writer suggests that the English teacher should use new technique to teach English especially of telling time. So, body clock game as a technique can be used to teach telling time.
