Abstrak

In today's modern era, schools, including universities, have their own learning media which they manage and develop to meet the needs of teaching and learning activities between teachers and students. one of them is with an online learning platform. This study aims to find out how is the motivation on the use of online learning platforms in learning English and what are the obstacles in applying online learning platforms in learning English. This research was conducted with descriptive qualitative research. Researchers collected data using a questionnaire consisting of 10 statements to 96 students, and interviews with 5 questions to 15 students. The results of the study on student motivation in the use of online learning platforms in learning English show that the statement Online learning platforms are very helpful in learning English gets the highest score (398). This means that students feel helped by online learning platforms that make students motivated to learn English. Then the obstacles faced by students in using online learning platforms when learning English are Internet signals and data plans are obstacles to the use of online learning platforms in learning English with a value of (367). In interviews conducted by researcher and students, students think that by using online learning platforms, learning English becomes easier and can be done anytime and anywhere. And the obstacles that are most felt by students are slow internet signals, data plans that run out quickly and difficulties in understanding the material. In this study the researcher concluded that the level of motivation of students in using online learning platforms in learning English has a high level of motivation, and the most obstacles faced by most students are data packages that run out quickly, internet signal speed, and difficulty in understanding the material. which are given. Researchers suggest that teachers can use online learning platforms in teaching English as a medium, and students can be more active and confident in using online learning platforms in learning English in order to get maximum results.
