Abstrak

English is an international that easy people from a country communicates with other people from different country who have different language also. Therefore, students are hoping to be able to perform language skill such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. In the world of education, students are expected to master in the English competence to support their skill, here is writing. But, sometimes the students have difficulties to express their writing because of many factors, they have to describe a topic that they never know of it or didn’t have an experience of it. So, they find difficult to determine their writing. Therefore, creating enjoyable learning is very important to do in order that students feel interesting and not bored when they are learning especially in writing. The development of computer and internet technology has made anyone closer to the world of technology especially in the use of computers in daily life .Weblogging is one of media for the teaching and learning of English, especially in teaching and learning writing skills. Weblogging can be used as media to teach writing ability trough computer and internet to support. The purpose of the research is to find out whether there is a significant difference between the writing ability of narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA NU Al Ma’ruf Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught through Weblogging. This is a quantitative research, which relies on quantitative data based on computation and measurement, operational variables and statistics. The method of the research is experiment. This design of the study is the quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test. The researcher gave pre test before being taught trough Weblogging and gave post testafter being taught through Weblogging. The data were collected by written test. The total population is 325 of the tenth grade students of SMA NU Al Ma’ruf Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013. This research applied a cluster random sampling technique to get samples. The total sample is 32 students from X-2 class. The result of this research shows that the ability of writing narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA NU Al Ma’ruf Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 before being taught through Weblogging is found the highest score is 80, and the lowest score is 40. And from the calculation the data, the mean is 67.3and the result is sufficient the standard deviation is 9.7. Meanwhile, the test result of the ability of writing narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA NU Al Ma’ruf Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013 after being taught through Weblogging is found the highest score is 90, and the lowest score is 50. And from the calculation the data, the mean is 78.8it is categorized as good and the standard deviation is 10.11.Besides, it can also be concluded that the t (obtained) value 9.38 in the level of significance α = 0.05 and the degree of freedom 31, the t (critical) is 2.04, so the t (obtained) value falls in the critical region. Thus, Ho is rejected and accepts the Ha. So, the hypothesis that states “there is a significant difference of the writing ability of the tenth grade students of SMA NU Al Ma’ruf Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught through Weblogging”. Based on the result above, the writer concludes that Weblogging well in improving the writing ability. For the teacher, Weblogging can be applied as an alternative media in teaching writing process.
