Abstrak

Viewing and listening are skills that must be considered when learning English. Seeing and listening is the ability to grasp meaning after seeing what is seen and heard accurately and quickly. Narrative text is a genre that is difficult for high school students to understand and learn. The use of video is one of the learning media in this research to stimulate and motivate students to understand the narrative text they see and listen to and is a teaching strategy used by teachers to improve students' viewing and listening skills. The objective of the research is to find out if there is any significant difference in reading comprehension of the eleventh-grade students’ of SMAN 1 Mejobo Kudus academic year 2022/2023 before and after being taught using videos of narrative text. In this research, the writer used a quantitative method with a one-group experimental research design. The population in this research is class XI students of SMAN 1 Mejobo Kudus academic year 2022/2023 with a sample consisting of class XI MIPA 2. The instrument of the research is the test (pre-test and post-test) consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions. The results of the research, show that the average score of students before using videosof narrative text was 68.63 is low. Then, the average score of students after using videos of narrative text was 86.75, and it is good category. Result t(obtained) = -11.978 and t(critical) = ± 2.039 with
